PROGRESSION

Walkthrough: move forward without spoiling your discovery

Use route guidance for the next objective, then return to exploration instead of reading an entire story path at once.

01Use a narrow objective

When lost, search for the current door, landmark or objective rather than an end-to-end route. Narrow answers preserve surrounding discovery and are easier to confirm in your own game.

02A clean progress routine

Before leaving an area, inspect the objective prompt, test the obvious branch you skipped and check for a safe point. Then continue with the clearest signposted route.

  • Follow the active objective first.
  • Explore one visible side path at a time.
  • Use a safe point before a long sequence.
  • Use Map when you need landmark language.

03Spoiler boundary

Use Story and Characters for optional context. This page stays focused on where to go and which system you need next.

04When you are genuinely lost

Read the latest objective text aloud, return to the last obvious landmark, then trace the nearest unexplored branch. If the game recently taught you an interaction or menu system, try that before assuming an item is hidden. This preserves exploration while preventing aimless backtracking.

05A spoiler-light route checklist

At each Spirit Mirror, stop and review the latest objective. In the next area, clear the nearest short branch first, identify its landmark, then return to the obvious forward path. Before leaving a named district, check the map/notebook marker and the last locked gate. This will not reveal later story beats, but it prevents most accidental backtracking.

06How the campaign is shaped

Nihei has said the game is linear with open pockets and side content, not an open world, and that it should run about 20 hours. Push Square’s 2025 interview is the source for that length. You will not be choosing a mountain from a map marker in hour one. You will be walking a spine — temple, streets, underground, mountain — with rooms that branch and fold back. That is the old Onimusha shape, rebuilt in RE Engine, third-person over the shoulder instead of tank-and-fixed-camera. The story is a new tale, not Dawn of Dreams chapter two. You can play it without the PS2 games. You should still know the verbs: Issen, souls, gauntlet. Those are the series. Plot is the story page. Places are this page and the map.

07Act zero: the demo

Until September 4, the walkthrough is the demo walkthrough. Kiyomizu-dera, Ganryu, Oni Refuge, Daidara, optional Byakue. The clip below is a full demo clear with Issen routing if you want a visual companion. It is not the campaign. Do not skip the written completion checklist if your goal is Kubi Akari rather than cinema. Full demo playthrough with Issen, Chain Issen and no-hit bosses

08Confirmed locations after the temple

Dokyo’s underground laboratory. Game Informer’s later Osaka feature walked a ghost-house lab where Dokyo fuses people with animals to mint new Genma. Izumo no Okuni is the narrative reason Musashi goes down there. Expect stealth-horror rooms, shoji silhouettes, and a boss that is not a swordsman. Producer Kadowaki has posted stills of the lab in Weekly Oni Memos. Mount Oe. A real Kyoto-area mountain restaged as the stronghold of Shuten Doji, the oni king of folklore, here a colossal Genma. This is the size-check chapter. The characters page has the voice credit; the map page has the geography. Oni world and other realms. Nihei has said the story does not stay inside Kyoto. Dark-fantasy folds are part of the franchise identity. Treat any “the game is only a tourism sim of temples” take as incomplete. Boss names already in public: Sasaki Ganryu (recurring), Daidara (demo), Byakue the Hundred Defilements, Dohatsu-ten Heaven’s Bane, Shuten Doji, Dokyo. This walkthrough will gain rooms, item stops and boss strategies after launch. Until then, do not invent routes. If a YouTube “full game walkthrough” claims a 2026 upload date before September 4, it is the demo or it is fiction.

09How we will expand this page

After the release date, this page becomes a chapter list with links to new boss files. The demo guides stay up because they remain the best Issen classroom. If you are reading this in August 2026, your job is not to find a fake full walkthrough. It is to finish the demo, read how to play, and show up on September 4 with the verbs installed.

FAQよくある質問

Is there a full-game walkthrough yet?

Not an honest one. The game launches September 4, 2026. This page maps confirmed locations and the demo until then.

Is the demo part of the campaign?

It is a slice of Kiyomizu-dera and an added Refuge. Save data does not continue. The places will return.

How many chapters are there?

CAPCOM has not published a chapter list. Expect a ~20-hour linear spine with side pockets.

Do I need a guide for side quests?

Not yet. Open pockets and side content are confirmed; the list of collectibles is not. Check the items page after launch.
