PLATFORM GUIDE

Which platform should you play on?

Choose by your screen, controller, storage and PC setup—not by unverified claims of exclusive combat content.

01The official platform list

Capcom lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. The core game is the same decision point; your local setup determines which version will feel best.

02Match your setup to a version

Choose the version that removes the biggest practical friction. This is a setup recommendation, not a claim that one platform has exclusive game content.

Your situationRecommended starting pointWhy
You want the simplest TV-and-controller setupPlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|SNo PC component comparison; check local storage and account-store language before purchase.
You meet Steam’s recommended 1080p Medium / 60 FPS targetPC on SteamBest if you want to tune graphics, use your preferred controller, and have 50 GB on an SSD.
You meet only Steam’s minimum targetPC only after accepting 1080p Low / 30 FPS with upscalingThat is Steam’s published minimum target; do not buy expecting a higher preset without testing.
You require a particular languageThe store page that explicitly lists it for your territorySteam’s language table is detailed; console language availability should be confirmed on that regional store page.
You are storage-constrainedThe device with at least 50 GB plus update headroom on SSDAvoid filling a drive to its limit; installation and patching need working space.

03Controller note

Steam lists full controller support. On any platform, use your first encounter to learn defense and camera behavior before optimizing advanced timing. Xbox also lists Play Anywhere for its purchase, while PlayStation lists DualSense features; use those features only if they matter to your own setup.

04PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series

Digital Foundry sat with the ~30-minute console demo in June 2026 and recorded two graphics modes. Quality targets a fixed 4K at 30 FPS. Performance targets 60 FPS at a dynamic 1440p-to-4K window. PS5 Pro, base PS5 and Series X all behaved similarly in that test; Series S held 1080p in Quality and a dynamic 1080p (with possible drops) in Performance. CAPCOM did not enable the full RE Engine ray-tracing suite in the build DF saw — lighting still looks expensive, but do not expect path-traced Kyoto out of the box. | Hardware | Quality | Performance | | --- | --- | --- | | PS5 Pro | 3840×2160 typical | 2304×1296 to 4K dynamic | | PS5 | 3840×2160 typical | 1440p to 4K dynamic | | Series X | 3840×2160 typical | 1440p to 4K dynamic | | Series S | 1920×1080 typical | 1080p dynamic, can dip | Xbox Play Anywhere is confirmed: a Microsoft Store copy runs on Series consoles and Xbox PC. A public, name-by-name trophy sheet is not something this wiki will invent — see trophies for what is actually sourced. DualSense work is more than a rumble preset: director Satoru Nihei told PlayStation.Blog that haptics are built from audio waveforms for cutscenes, giant Genma, soul absorb and weapon hits; drawing the Oni Bow stiffens the adaptive trigger; sealing a “Rift” portal asks for a full squeeze; 3D audio used impulse responses recorded in real Kyoto temples, with DualSense speaker cues for absorb and the Oni Lady. Xbox wireless still has full support. Button homes stay on the control schemes page.

05Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo announced the Switch 2 version in a June 2026 Direct, after the PS5 / Xbox / PC date was already public. Official social copy the same day confirmed Joy-Con 2 motion controls as an optional, more intuitive swing. Nintendo of Australia lists a 31.9 GB file, single-player only, TV / tabletop / handheld, and Save Data Cloud. Nintendo Life’s full review is 9/10 and treats the Switch 2 SKU as a successful port, including handheld — stronger than the summer preview. Exact per-mode resolution still has no Digital Foundry-style table. Physical Switch 2 copies in the Americas include a Game Key Card Steelbook. That is a download code in a box, not a 32 GB card with the full game on it. Leave docked storage free before September 4. The Switch 2 demo arrived after the other platforms; if you only own that hardware, you still have time to practise Issen before launch week.

06Windows PC

Steam AppID 2638890, plus Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. Minimum is Windows 11, Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 3 3100, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1660 (6 GB) or RX 5500 XT (8 GB), DirectX 12, 50 GB on an SSD, targeting 1080p30 Low with upscaling. Recommended steps up to i5-10400 / Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 2060 Super / RX 6600 for 1080p60 Medium. CAPCOM also published High and Ultra presets that assume 1440p and 4K respectively. The PC requirements tool maps those four tiers to common cards. Super Resolution is NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 3.1. HDR is flagged on Steam. Denuvo Anti-tamper ships with a five-different-PCs-per-day activation cap — relevant if you bounce between a desktop and a laptop. Keyboard and mouse are supported; the demo already attracted players who cleared Kiyomizu-dera without a pad. For button maps see Controls.

07What you will not find

No last-generation consoles. No split-screen. No online versus. The pitch is a single-player, mostly linear, ~20-hour RE Engine action game, closer to a modern Onimusha than to an open-world samurai RPG. If that matches what you want, pick the screen you already sit in front of and spend remaining days on the demo walkthrough rather than platform anxiety. Cloud saves: Steam Cloud, Xbox Play Anywhere, Switch 2 Save Data Cloud, and PS5 cloud if you have the subscription. Demo saves do not become campaign saves; only the Kubi Akari flag carries. Plan your edition after you know which storefront already has your Capcom library.

FAQよくある質問

Is Onimusha: Way of the Sword on PS4 or Xbox One?

No. Current-gen only: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.

Does the Switch 2 version run at 60 FPS?

Nintendo Life’s 9/10 review treats the Switch 2 version as a successful port, including handheld. Summer previews described docked Performance as 60 FPS and handheld as a solid 30. Joy-Con 2 motion is optional. No official Capcom resolution table yet.

Which PC store should I buy?

Steam, Epic and Microsoft Store all have the game. Microsoft Store is the Play Anywhere option with Xbox. Steam has the public demo AppID and Cloud.

Is there ray tracing?

The console demo Digital Foundry tested did not ship CAPCOM’s full RT suite. PC listings mention DLSS 4.5 and FSR 3.1. Mods have already unlocked extra RT on the demo; that is unofficial.
